Chrono Trigger by Enix
So exactly what the hell does Chrono
Trigger have anything to do with Enix? What most people don't know
is that Chrono Trigger was actually a collaboration of two of the greatest
Japanese RPG developers: Enix and Square. It was meant to be
a dream RPG for those diehard Japanese fans because on one hand, there's
the makers of Final Fantasy and on the other, Dragon Quest. The question
is, why was it published with the Square name? I'm not sure what
it was published in Japan but here in North America, it was definitely
Squaresoft. Not to mention there is absolutely no mention of the
great company in the "developer's room" ending of the game. I'm guessing
that by that time, everyone who was into videogames had heard of Square
but not Enix as it was evident who the market leader was. People
will be more confused had both names been on and sales wouldn't have been
as high. Still I think another factor was that Enix was once again
chicken. Anyway, here's proof and a tribute to Enix's participation
of this great game.
By
now it's obvious that the Dream Team is the collaboration of Square and
Enix. Inside that room are the top guns for both developers.

First of all, I'm not sure
who this Kazuhiko Aoki works for. Whether it's Square or Enix, I
don't know but, being the producer and all, he did have a big job.

Akira Toriyama is awesome.
Not only did he create Dragonball, he does the character designs at Enix.
Even the plot is something Toriyama would think of. It's got both
past and future elements and it's done in a style that's very unlike Square's
take on machinery. Another thing I would like to mention is that
Chrono and Marle are from Secret of Mana although I don't know why they
are in Chrono Trigger. Another thing about Chrono is that he doesn't
talk throughout the whole game. That is probably deliberate so that
the gamer is, more or less, Chrono which is pure Enix.

Yuji Horii and Hironobu
Sakaguchi are the top executives of their respective companies. Horii
for Enix and Sakaguchi for Square. In this game they are taking the
role as supervisor which probably means that they gave input on what the
story should be about, how Enix and Square was going to work together,
and made sure that the game felt both like an Enix game and a Square game.

The awesome music in this
game was composed by these two guys. Yasunori Mitsuda is now the
head honcho (I think) of Square's music. Latest works are FF8, FF7
I believe, and Chrono Cross. Nobuo Uematsu is the legendary composer
that created all the great music in the early Final Fantasy games.
He's so well known, I guess, that he was present in the Dream Team room.
